The Psoas muscle, which connects the lumbar vertebrae to the pelvis and femur, is widely believed to hold physical, emotional, and mental stress that we carry in our bodies over the course of our lives. The Psoas is also connected to the diaphragm through connective tissue or fascia.

If we constantly contract the Psoas to due to stress or tension , the muscle eventually begins to shorten leading to low back pain, sacroiliac pain, sciatica, disc problems, hip degeneration, knee pain, menstruation pain, infertility, and digestive problems. A tight Psoas not only creates structural problems, it also constricts the organs, puts pressure on nerves, interferes with the movement of fluids, and impairs diaphragmatic breathing.

In fact, the Psoas muscle is so intimately involved in such basic physical and emotional reactions, that a chronically tightened psoas continually signals your body that you’re in danger, eventually exhausting the adrenal glands and depleting the immune system.

This Stress & Tension Release session involves a simple series of exercises that assist the body in releasing these deeply held muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. We will safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating, that releases muscular tension, buried emotions  and calms the nervous system, encouraging the body to return back to a state of balance and harmony.
