Pregnancy is a precious time in a woman’s life. It is also a transitional time bringing many changes and opportunities for personal development.
Yoga is the perfect exercise for pregnancy, childbirth and after the baby is born. Yoga is a gentle and safe means of keeping your body toned and supple; of preventing or relieving the aches and pains of pregnancy, of relaxing your mind and body and of preparing you for the physical and emotional demands of childbirth and motherhood itself.
Our antenatal Yoga & Pilates classes are designed for your changing body and your growing baby throughout all the stages of pregnancy. You can begin soon after finding out that you are pregnant and continue until you give birth. Antenatal Yoga & Pilates strengthens the uterus and pelvic muscles, improves circulation, aids digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort, also alleviating many of the common discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain, and sciatica. You will learn breathing and relaxation techniques to nourish the body during pregnancy and reduce discomfort during labour.
This is a time to nurture yourself and your baby and to access your own intuitive understanding of this very natural process. Our antenatal classes provide a safe, supportive environment allowing you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing.
The classes are based on the Birthlight principles and the belief that birth can be a ‘light’ and fulfilling experience when women are given adequate preparation, care and support.
* Your employer cannot ‘unreasonably refuse’ you paid time off to attend antenatal care classes during working hours when you are pregnant. This includes time travelling to and from the appointments. Parentcraft and relaxation classes can be included in the term ‘antenatal care’.
