Back pain is a common problem, with more than 80% of the adult population suffering from back pain or discomfort at some point in their life. It can be frustrating, distressing and can have a huge impact on your quality of life. There are a number of things you can do reduce the risks of developing back pain, and reduce the impact back pain has on your life when back pain does occur. It is important to stay active, to look after your posture, to keep the back flexible and to take care when lifting heavy items. This does not only put you in the best position to prevent back pain, but also enables you to control back pain when it strikes. Research has shown that specific gentle and effective exercises can help with the prevention and management of back pain.

The Back Care Class is for anyone with upper or lower backache. It is a gentle therapeutic class, drawing from Yoga and Pilates principles, aimed at improving posture by strengthening core muscles, building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment.

The exercises taught in the class will also improve spinal mobility and flexibility, reducing the impact back pain has on your life. There will also be an element of relaxation in the class to help release unwanted stress and tension.
